This is one of our Christmas activities (Not 12 Days of Christmas), which we had to describe what Christmas means at our house and what it's like. Here is my presentation.

12 Days of Christmas - Activity 2

For the second activity we had to make a word find with Merry Christmas in different languages. Here is mine.

12 Days of Christmas - Activity 1

For the first Christmas activity, we had to take a screenshot of something related to Christmas (with a few clues) and see if our blog viewers can guess what it is. Here are my clues:

- Its colours are red and gold

- It helps Santa a lot on Christmas eve

PrEP Awards

In the past 2-3 weeks we have been doing PrEP, which if you didn't know, is a business event where our whole school starts ventures (Business Groups) or signs up to be in something like the PrEP Police force, the Warehouse, the Advertising agency ect. Today at Assembly I received an award for my service in the Advertising agency.

Space Task 2

As you may have seen from my previous post I have started a new topic around space. For the second task we had to complete a google drawing about what astronauts need/take to space. Here is mine.

Space Task 1

This week we started a new literacy topic which was either space or NZ disasters. I have chosen to do Space, for the first task we had to complete a planet report about a planet of our choice, I have chosen Mercury because it is the smallest and closest to the sun.

Wk3 Whanau Time Video

This week our Principal asked us to make a short film about overcoming a task that is challenging or that you have never done before. Emil, Jacob, Toby and I decided to make a film about going up the 'Big Fort' at our school (I have actually been up there before). Here is the video.

Moa Create Task

For the past couple weeks we have been doing reading tasks around Moa's extinction and facts about them. One of the tasks was a create task, for this we had to choose another extinct animal and write some facts about it and how it got extinct. I chose to do my one on the Haast Eagle mostly because it was the predator of the Moas. Here is the link to my create task.

Moa Reading tasks

This week we started a new reading topic around Moas and their extinction and so on. We have 4 tasks (plus a create task) that we had to complete before the end of the week. I found these tasks reasonably easy because they didn't take much time to do. Here are the links to the tasks.

PrEP Letters and C.V.'s

This term Grey Main are going to have our annual PrEP (Primary Enterprise Program) which is similar to a market. We have small market where ventures can choose to make some products for that and the big market which is the same but all ventures have to enter some sort of item. This year's theme is Christmas, so we can make gifts, ornaments and so on. There are also jobs outside the classroom, for example, the PrEP Police, the Advertising Agency, the bank, the Warehouse and also people who help the younger learners with their ventures. I have decided to apply for the Police (Yr 8's only) and the Advertising Agency.

Welcome Back!

This week is the first week back to school in term 4. It has been pretty relaxed as we needed time to get back into the swing of things. However, as part of the very few things that I have done this week, I have done my Prototec for this week. (I apologize about the screenshot quality).

Term 4 Reflection

Well, It's the end of the year again, that has come so quickly. Anyway this blog post is all about what we have done this term (this will probably be my last post for 2019).

We have done 'Writing to entertain' this term which was about writing different genres, here is my slide all about it.

We have also done some 'Readers Theatre' Which is presenting plays from the school journal books. Here are some pictures.

Here I am on the left in red, I was helping Tom read.

As you can see we have had a great term and a great year, so I guess I'll post you next year.

My Poem/Lyrics

Yesterday I made a poem that is based on Christmas eve for our writing to entertain topic not until today did I realize that it could also be my Lyrics for a song, anyway here it is.

Poem/Lyric | The day before

It’s Christmas eve,
I see presents on the floor,
Under the tree they sit,
There’s happiness galore.

We sit on the couches,
Waiting for Ben,
Because he’s working late
Now we finally hear the gate.

Now we play our game,
Mum chose something lame,
I chose something cool,
Dad stole it, cruel.

It doesn’t matter though,
As we sit around the table,
A smile grows on my face,
As mum connects the light cable.

The tree lights up,
The room along with it,
We are all happy,
This is our kiwi Christmas!

Math Buddy | Advanced Bar graphs

Today I have completed my two maths buddy tasks for the week one of them being about advanced bar graphs and how to divide them into percentages and fractions, here are some of the questions.

The answer would be 4/15 because there are 8 lamb and 30 overall and then just half it so it becomes 4/15.

Writing To Entertain

This week Mrs Gully gave us the task of writing to entertain by doing different types of writing. Here is my descriptive writing.

This man may not be familiar to any of you, but he is familiar to me and he might not show the kindness inside him when he asks me to clear the table, or when my older brothers fight in the kitchen, but at the end of the day when he’s watching the T.V. with his blanket on the couch that happiness shows.

He isn’t a loud person, (as long as my brothers aren’t fighting) he doesn’t necessarily like going to work but that doesn’t matter, he is a kind person on the inside. He likes to watch the Highlanders, he likes a good seafood chowder, he likes sitting on the couch with his dog presumably with a bowl of chips, he is my definition of a regular guy. If you can’t already picture this man, he is a round man with either a singlet or one of his 7 highlander shirts on, some blue or black canterbury pants on and an under armour cap.

This man is my dad, he is a good, caring man even if he doesn’t seem like it from the naked eye’s perspective.

Reciprocal reading

This week for reciprocal reading my group read a story called 'the promise' because it had an eye-catching title, as a group we did a google drawing about it down here.

Reciprocal Reading

Image result for booksToday for Reciprocal Reading we had the same group being, Junior, Millah, Aimee, Tom and I. This session we read a story about the author's dad and how he had never seen him before. It went a bit bad at the end because the dad died... I'm gonna leave that there. We had a good session today even though it was just me and Junior because the others were at other places.

Reciprocal Reading

Image result for books"
Today and the past few weeks we have been doing reciprocal reading in our class. Reciprocal reading is when we form groups of 4 (usually the same groups) and we take turns at reading a school journal book and when we have finished we each get a role (predictor, summarizer and others) and we right down what we need to and that is pretty much all we do in reciprocal reading.
