Dogs
Dogs are a great pet to have, they are very loving animals and science has shown that they are more loving than cats. Dogs are quite common animals to have as pets because they... wait I’m getting too far into this let’s get to the cool things about some breeds of dogs.
For example, the cool thing about Bloodhounds is that they are the dog breed with the best smelling ability, so good in fact it can be used as evidence in a court of law! Following the bloodhound, there is the Basset hound and the Beagle. The dog breeds with the best hearing are, first of all, the Poodle then the Golden Retriever and the Labrador Retriever. Those are just some of the cool abilities dogs have.
Now, if you have a dog you have probably said “We’ve got the best dog in the world” and I’m not going to stop you from believing that because everyone has their own taste, however, the most popular dog breed from 2014 - 2018 is the Labrador Retriever as there is around 35 thousand of them according to the Dog Blog. There is one dog breed that is quite different from others and that is the Newfoundland dog breed. The things that make them different from the others is, firstly their webbed feet to help them through the water, also another thing to help them in the water is their water resistant coat which has two layers, the outer coat is coarse and long and the undercoat is soft and dense.
There are also some cool things that are the same throughout all dog breeds like; their wet nose, now they have a wet nose because it helps them absorb scent chemicals and then once the scents are absorbed they lick their nose to help them understand the smell more, isn’t that smart! Now this next one isn’t so much about the dogs but it’s quite cool. In an interview in 2013, Paul McCartney said that at the end of the Beatles song ‘A day in the life’ they added a frequency that only dogs can hear which I think is quite cool.
Well, now you know your dogs are not just pets, they are quite smart animals who know what they are doing!

ReplyDeleteKia ora Rhys, I enjoyed reading your interesting report on dogs. The information is well presented, using correct paragraphs and punctuation. I now know why dogs have great sense of smell! I am a huge Beatles fan and did not know about Paul McCartney's story of the frequency at the end of one of their songs.
