This week we have been doing some persuasive writing, and our teacher gave us the topic: Is Greymouth's future in tourism? here is my work. l:v)
WALT: Write a piece of persuasive writing
Is Greymouth’s future in tourism? I think not. I am arguing against this because I
think it’s a bit silly, Greymouth is already a fine place and it doesn’t need to attract
tourists.
I think Greymouth is fine because there are already heaps of tourist attractions
around the West Coast like Hokitika, Westport etc. There are a fair amount of
people that have come to the west coast because in their country they don’t
have all the green trees and all the birds and native animals that we do. That alone
attracts tourists to Greymouth so I don’t think we need all the stuff Hokitika and
Westport have because they aren't that long of a drive.
Where on earth would we get this money! It isn’t free to have all the attractions
that other countries and places do. It would be like a cycle, we buy and make the
attraction and the tourists come and pay to see the attraction. Would it be worth
all that money? Would we make income? I just don’t think it’s worth it. I’m not
exactly sure if the government would source the money or not but I don’t think
they would.
If Greymouth built tourist attractions it could steal other peoples customers. It
could cause other tourist attractions in other places to shut down because no one
was visiting their places. People could get angry, and we don’t want that, do we?
Tourists like new things to visit that’s why they tour so if we put in something new
tourists would leave the old places and they would shut down.
In conclusion, I think it would cost a lot and might not be worth all the money so
that is why I don’t think Greymouth’s future is in tourism.
Did you like it? let me know.
