| Swinging Water |
Swinging water is a fun experiment for everyone, however, you may never have figured out why this works, I am about to tell you.
The water stays in the cup because it is moving in a circular (centripetal) motion and it wants to escape from the bottom of the cup, because the cup has a bottom, the water cannot escape. That is why it stays flat in the cup.
What you will need to do this experiment:
A piece of string
A plastic cup
Water
Scissors/thumbtack
Once you have all the things gathered up, use your scissors/thumbtack to make a hole on both sides of the cup at the top, make it so your choice of string can fit. Thread the string from the outside in through both holes, tie it at the top. You now have all you need for this experiment, all you need to do now is fill the cup halfway with water.
Go to an outside area and swing it around, the water will stay in the cup.
